Couples & Relationships
ACT-based couples work for communication, connection,
and values-directed action.

WHAT THIS WORK IS
Nurturing Connections Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Relationships are complex systems shaped by histories, expectations, and old patterns. ACT helps couples notice reactive loops, explore shared values, and take committed action toward the kind of relationship they want to build — together or separately.

This isn’t about deciding who’s “right.” It’s about what works.
Our
Approach
We use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) adapted for couples, drawing on schema-aware ACT models developed by Avigail Lev and Matthew McKay.
This integration helps partners:

✔ identify unworkable patterns
✔ understand schemas and emotional triggers
✔ increase psychological flexibility
✔ build perspective-taking and empathy
✔ reconnect with values under load
✔ choose behavior that aligns with what matters
Couples seek ACT-based relational work for:
• conflict and communication loops
• emotional distance and disconnection
• repetitive patterns (“same fight, different day”)
• navigating life transitions and decisions
• intimacy and meaning
• rebuilding after ruptures
• clarifying the future of the relationship
